Electrophysiology recordings. (A) Waveforms of three single units recorded from a single channel of the 96-channel MEA implanted in the primary motor cortex of the monkey. (B) A net decline in the number of single units was observed over time. Neural spikes were observed as early as 24 d postimplantation and were observed as late as 227 d postimplantation. Similar trends were observed for (C) the mean firing rate and (D) spike SNR over time. Error bars represent S.E.M.
